Presented by Freedom from Torture’s legal, medical, therapeutic and welfare experts, this introductory session is suitable for new/beginner level legal representatives and advisers, welfare advisers and others working within relevant support agencies with survivors of torture.
 
This session will cover topics such as:

  • What is torture?

  • What are the physical and psychological consequences of torture?

  • Interview techniques

  • Medical evidence

  • Self-care and vicarious trauma

  • Policies and protections for torture survivors going through the asylum process

  • Welfare provisions and support
