Presented by Freedom from Torture’s legal, medical, therapeutic and welfare experts, this introductory session is suitable for new/beginner level legal representatives and advisers, welfare advisers and others working within relevant support agencies with survivors of torture.
This session will cover topics such as:
What is torture?
What are the physical and psychological consequences of torture?
Self-care and vicarious trauma
Policies and protections for torture survivors going through the asylum process
Welfare provisions and support
Spaces are limited. In the event that we are oversubscribed we will generally apply a first come first basis but will also endeavour to fairly assign places across a variety of organisations.
