Fraud is an ever-present and prevalent issue in the charity and not-for-profit sector. Data collated as part of ‘The Annual Fraud Indicator 2017’ indicates that fraudulent activity costs charitable organisations around £2.3bn each year. Whilst procurement accounts for over half of all charity fraud cases, other areas such as payroll and grants are also extremely susceptible. Consequently, there is a wide range of ways in which to detect and prevent your organisation from falling foul to fraudsters.
In their final charity group briefing of the year, UNW is delighted to be joined by Dave Carter, special advisor to the UK’s Fraud Advisory Panel, who will discuss emerging threats to the sector and the red flags to look out for. He will also provide practical tips to prevent fraud, including the steps to take if you discover fraudulent activity within your organisations.
