If you would like the scope to manage the Home Care and Day Care Services for Age UK Northumberland as if it was your own business alongside working for an organisation going through significant period of change and growth then this job may be of interest to you. Working as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have a varied role including responsibility for service performance, working with the Registered Manager and Day Care and Lunch Club Co-Coordinator to achieve business targets, high service quality levels and managing and developing a team of staff and volunteers. You will need to have a passion for motivating staff to achieve financial and care targets as well as exploring new commercial opportunities. Age UK Northumberland would like the appointed Head of Home Care and Day Services to bring their care and commercial experience to the table and really push our services forward to drive up the quality of care that we provide.

The ideal candidate will need to have managed Home Care Services across a region and have a proven track record of working in a fast paced role, exceeding commercial targets, delivering a person-centered service and motivating teams. This post will be based at The Roundhouse in Ashington and the successful candidate will be required to undertake travel across Northumberland, therefore access to a car and a full driving licence is essential.

Here at Northumberland CVA the organisations we work with are always telling us how crucial and valued their volunteers are. We too have Volunteers that we couldn’t do without.

 

So as a celebration of Volunteers’ Week, which runs from Thursday the 1st until Wednesday the 7th of June,  we’re running a photo competition. See more on Volunteers' Week at volunteersweek.org.

 

In line with the theme of Volunteers’ Week we would like the photos to represent:

Volunteers making a difference in Northumberland.

We don’t want to make it any more specific than that because we don’t want to stifle your creativity!

 

The competition is open to any organisation based or delivering a project or service in Northumberland that utilises volunteers for all or part of the project.

We’d like to start what we hope will become a series of blogs giving volunteer perspectives on volunteering in Northumberland with an anonymous blog written by one of our own volunteers, entitled ‘Volunteering: Same Book, New Chapter’.
 
We do hope that other volunteers will come forward to tell us about their own volunteering experiences – anonymously too if they prefer.  If a volunteer’s experiences have not all been positive, they may find it much easier to tell their story if they know they and their organisation need not be identified.  And our own Anonymous Blogger is happy to meet with volunteers to chat about their experiences and help them put something together.

Would you like to be part of Cygnus Support?
 

Cygnus Support is on a journey and we have a number of exciting projects happening across Northumberland. We have been successful in attracting three years funding from the Big Lottery Fund to deliver these projects. We also support victims of crime (including domestic abuse) with financial support from the Police and Crime Commissioner.

We have funding for other projects including the Bridge Project (Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund), counselling to prevent homelessness (Northumberland County Council)  and Fresh Ideas to help us set up a commercial arm to enable us to become financially sustainable in the future.

We have a committed Board of Trustees but we need to appoint more trustees to help us deliver our strategy for the future.  We are particularly interested in recruiting trustees with experience in the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Legal
  • PR & Communications
  • Marketing
  • IT
  • Social Media
  • Fundraising

Even if your experience is not in one of these areas we would still like to hear from you.

The Board meets every six weeks and there is an expectation that each trustee will also sit on one of our sub-committees.  Travelling expenses are paid but there is no remuneration for trustees.

The Volunteering Services Co-ordinator will practically promote the role and value of volunteering within Age UK Northumberland to help more local older people by increasing the opportunities to support and /or be supported by a range of formal or informal volunteers.

Promote social connectedness, building on opportunities to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Develop and promote a volunteer recruitment/retention plan to promote and raise awareness of these opportunities across Age UK Northumberland.

Work alongside the Line Manager in the regular production, delivery and performance monitoring of service plans, in a format which is consistent with commissioning, contractual, financial, budgetary and other Age UK Northumberland reporting requirements.

The post holder will be a well organised individual with highly developed experience in the coordination of projects and people with the ability to effectively communicate, motivate and inspire our volunteer teams. 

It is essential that the successful candidate has a good understanding of the current volunteering environment in Northumberland.  A background in recruitment, HR, training or volunteering would be desirable.

Day Services Administrator

A vacancy has arisen for a Day Services Administrator based at our Ashington office.

The post holder will report to and take daily direction from the Day Services Supervisor.

Working as part of the Day Services team you will carry out a range of administrative duties, as well as liaising with Care Managers, Day Centre Support Staff and Service Users.

The candidate must have administration experience, excellent IT skills using computerised systems and MS Office, have excellent customer service and administrative skills, as well as experience of processing and maintaining confidential information.  They will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, be enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn.

Home Care Administrator (Apprentice)

The Home Care Department provides care services to enable Service Users to remain independent in their own homes within Northumberland.

As part of the Home Care Team, the Home Care Administrator (Apprentice) will provide administrative support for the deployment and management of Support Workers and ensuring the effective provision of services to Service Users.

Directed by the Home Care Manager, the role will involve acting as a point of contact for both Home Care Attendants and Service Users, administering the processes associated with implementing and amending "scheduled" activity on the Home Care system.

The Home Care Administrator (Apprentice) will ensure that the quality of data entry is high and that documentation around the operation of Home Care is entered onto the system in a timely manner.

They will support relationships with Care Managers and other referral points and will field new enquiries; ensuring new Care Plans are entered onto the system within a timely manner and provide information to enable them to deliver an effective and efficient service.

Citizens Advice Northumberland is looking for members to join the Trustee Board.  The service would particularly welcome applications from people with a good understanding of communities throughout Northumberland.   

We are a local charity working as part of the national Citizens Advice network.  Through our advice work we promote people’s rights and responsibilities particularly in the fields of welfare benefits, housing, employment and money advice.  In addition we use our client based evidence to promote changes in the policy and practice of public and private bodies.
